Preschool
North Adams Community Schools offers high quality, engaging and developmentally appropriate preschool programs supporting early literacy and school readiness. We prepare our young learners for strong, well-developed reading and literacy readiness skills, so their entrance into our kindergarten program is a successful transition.
Our preschool students are taught by highly qualified, certified educators that value the importance of early skill development. Our teachers and instructional assistants seek to foster independent, child-centered growth in a "Play to Learn" environment with a low teacher-to-student ratio.
Our offerings include:
- 4/5 year old class 5 days a week from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m.
- 4/5 year-old class 4 days a week (no Wednesdays) from 11:45 to 2:45 p.m.
- Two 3-year-old options. One is 4 days a week from 11:45 to 2:45 p.m. (no classes Wednesdays). The other is 5 days a week from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m.
Preschool is open to all students ages 3, 4, and 5. We promote integrated learning environments for students of all learning types and all ability levels. Our preschoolers who have been identified with special needs are now integrated into our preschool classrooms and our Special Ed preschool teacher stays involved in the classrooms as well as pulls students out who need additional services.
We are committed to providing affordable and accessible opportunities for our young learners to receive the vital early learning foundation needed for academic success throughout their years ahead. For families that meet income eligibility requirements, sliding-scale, income-based preschool services are available.
We additionally offer before and after school childcare for our preschool students; before the morning Pre-K session from 6:00 to 7:30 a.m. and after the afternoon session until 6:00 p.m. We refer to our daycare as BEST (Bellmont Extended School Time).
Our preschool programs are licensed Path to Quality Level 3 and accept both CCDF vouchers as well as On My Way Pre-K vouchers, which means free preschool/daycare for those who qualify. For more information about On My Way Pre-K vouchers, click HERE.
